Regardless of the type of site you are running, the need for some type of content management system (CMS) is a must. Just think about how much time you can save by not needing to directly edit any web design code to update your site every time.

CMS and other similar scripts have become so popular now that most hosting companies offer solutions that allow you to install them in just a couple of minutes and with no web coding know-how.

Below is a video that will run though how to setup your own hosted Wordpress blog in just under 5 minutes.

Video Transcript

1. Log into your cPanel. Most hosting nowadays have some form of administration panel where you can access script installing applications. I use HostMonster, so I simply sign into my cPanel, through the main site.

2. Locate Fantastico. Once logged in, scroll down until you find the Fantastico application. Click on it and select Wordpress in the options. Again, depending on your hosting, you may be using something called Simple Scripts in place of Fantastico.

3. Fill in details. A form should show up that will ask you where you want to install your Wordpress build and what login credentials you want. If you are looking to install Wordpress on your main site, then leave the directory field blank. If you want people to visit your Wordpress site as an add on (i.e. http://yoursite.com/wordpress), then put that in the field (i.e. wordpress).

4. Click install and wait a couple seconds. After installation is complete you will be given the links and information you need to access your new build of Wordpress. To access the administration panel, add “/wp-admin” to the end of your URL.
