6 Simple Tactics To Drastically Improve Landing Page Conversions

Whether you are just trying to sell a product or build an email list, the layout of your landing page will drastically alter your overall conversation rate. In this article, we will look at a couple easy, but impact-ful steps that will bump of the number of people that convert.

First off, lets clarify what a landing page is. Some people call it a sales letter, sales page, or squeeze page, but they are pretty much all the same and the goal is to get the visitor to perform an action.

1. Effective use of white-space

Because we are trying to funnel the user to complete one action, we need to maintain their attention on the task at hand. Although it is easier said than done, make sure you landing page is concise and to the point. Don’t boggle it down with excess images and fluff text.

2. Create a store window display

How many times have you been walking around the mall and you or one of your friends suddenly see something on a store window (be it a sign or display) that makes you want to go inside?

Well this is exactly what you need at the top of your landing page. Something attractive that catches the visitors attention and makes them want to learn a little bit more about what you want to offer. This can be an image, sign, or anything else that gets your message across.

2 Important Reasons For Using A Squeeze Page

We have covered the difference between a sales page and squeeze page, but why would somebody choose one over the other? You want to sell something, right? So why not slap up a sales page and a direct link to the check out page?

While an effective sales page can definitely work, a squeeze page can actually be more efficient and imperative to lasting revenue.

1. Spread Out Sales Time

The theory behind both pages is that you are trying to convince the visitor to buy your product or service. Remember that these type of pages are single long web pages, so there is only one reason for people visiting your site: they have some problem, and they are looking to see if your product can help solve it.

With a sales page, there are really only 2 outcomes: the visitor buys your products or they leave. If you are lucky, they may bookmark the site, but odds are if they weren’t totally persuaded with your sales page the first time, then it won’t really convince them when they come back.

Examples of Effective Sales and Squeeze Pages

If you are unfamiliar with what sales and squeeze pages are, then it is time to get familiar. These type of pages are basically a single web page that focuses on getting the visitor to perform one action.

  • Sales Page – Focuses on visitor to buy the product.
  • Squeeze Page – Focuses on visitor to opt-in to mailing list.

There are obviously advantages and disadvantages to creating each one over the other; however, each one is almost a vital part to launching and selling any product or service. We think they are so important that we have created free templates for these specific pages that you can get for free.

Although these pages seem relatively easy to produce, it is almost an art form. How will you keep somebody’s attention and convince them to perform the action you want?
